Improvisation

I had my first lesson of Playback Theatre today. According to the lecturer Theatre is staged, everything from the props to the set were all set up beforehand. With the addition of Playback, the actors on stage take whatever the audiences suggest and create a scene.

"Whose line is it anyway" immediately popped into my mind. I was elated, I get to finally learn something I secretly have been yearning so much for.

"The key to acting is to not act" I understand this because I have been put in front of a camera before, albeit very little times. Funny enough,  the Director of Design School gave us a talk in the morning and gave great emphasis on Embracing Contradiction.

Back to the lesson, the lecturer,  Chris, talked about what a good actor is to him. He said that a great actor compliments others, they make the other actor's role believable.  This really gave me a new insight about acting.

I was so hyped to start the improvisation. I was caught off gaurd when Chris literary asked me and another student to stand in the circle and start. All I could do was stare awkwardly at the students. I was ready to go, I was ready to have fun and let loose. But, that fear still lies in me, that fear of not getting it right or just looking daft. But this is improv there IS no right or wrong. By the time I convinced myself to go ahead, Chris stopped us and asked us to go back to our seats. I was utterly gutted .

Whenever I get into a social situation whereby I consciously knew if I were to just do something, that would result in a much better experience and not do anything,  I will feel just angry at myself.  Anyway it's just the first lesson, I was promised that each lesson will be different, which is something to really look forward to. Till next time!

Self Doubt

Am I good enough?

I find this stuck in my head ever since I decided to embark on the journey of becoming a filmmaker. It's like an imaginary rope binding my limbs together, restricting me from running loose going entirely obessed with everything about film. Yet I feel this restriction helps me to be patient. To take one step at a time, and slowly get myself out of this restriction.

Today, I find myself peaking in self doubt. A person told me that he finds me funny, finds that I want to have that film vibe and look like I'm into film by buying instructional "how-tos", but I really I just don't know anything about filmmaking. Basically saying that I'm a pseudo filmmaker, he insulted my ambition without reason. It was something he says he had just obesvered. He was unforgiving about it too.

I instantly felt angry more at myself than him. I peaked at self doubt, the rope got tighter. I would usually ignore such an insult from any Tom, Dick or Harry. But, it came from someone I respected, someone who through experience, really knew what they were doing.

I wouldn't completely ignore his insult nor would I completely willow in self-doubt. He is right at the fact that I don't really know filmmaking. I'll just continue growing,  experiencing, filmmaking. Having this harsh insult in mind, I will one day break loose from these ropes I am restricted from. Till then bye for now Internet!

Look

Look. What is the first thing you see? I see the body, the curves, then the face.

After that what's next? I see their locomotion,  their body language,  their expressions.

Is that it? Yes that is it. It is it for the most of us, and I'm not excluded. But, sometimes I go a step further I stop seeing and I talk. That's how a first impression is formed ladies and gentlemen.

Even as I type this post now on Bus 15, everyone's doing it. You see this empty seat beside me and a few girls in front of me standing?  Why do they stand even after possibly bitching about how hard and long school was? *That's what she said. It is mostly from the looks of a person where opinions are formed, then decisions made.

Hell I do it to others too. However,  I will try to make that extra step more often. Till then, bye for now Internet!

Hello Internet!

Hi! This is a platform where I spew out my thoughts about whatever I experience about the world. I sometimes have short thoughts that I think are important to just share. (But that's what Twitter's for isn't it?)

Since we are on the topic of the Inter-webs, I'm gonna tell you about my greatest inspirations that come from it, most are from YouTube though. These are my top favourite Youtubers!

1. Philip DeFranco

He is the embodiment of Awesome and makes me feel good about this world we live in. He doesn't take "facts" as it is, but questions it thoroughly and questions himself thoroughly. He has an individual channel and tells us news that mattered to him.

2. SourceFed

From left: Elliott Morgan, Joe Bereta, Meg Turney, Steve Zaragoza, Trisha Hershberger and Lee Newton.

I thought of putting each SourceFed Hosts' individual portraits, but then I would have too many beautiful faces in this post. Quick rundown, Philip DeFranco gave them the platform of SourceFed to give us news that mattered to them, using their own individual thoughts. They are flexible in bringing us almost all kinds of news, and I love that about them.

There are so many more Youtubers that I appreciate and enjoy! But I'm basically a rather lazy person and this post is kinda long don't you think?

Probably will not post as frequent either. See you guys next time!!! Bye for now Internet!
